I love having a "peninsula" counter. Whenever I am in the kitchen, (often) the kids like to come and gather around. Sometimes it involves sitting on the counter.
When I was little my mother had a sign that said: "The kitchen is the heart of the home."

Ever feel like you live in the kitchen?? I love having ours centerally located in the house so I can easily be a part/view the kiddos wherever they are (not that it keeps them from getting in trouble.
This post, though, really makes me want to get some barstools for our bar-type pennensula.
Somedays it feels like i never leave the kitchen . . .
